Machining

We operate two highly flexible manufacturing lines for a wide range of performance and quality requirements.

  • Large, circularly symmetric castings are machined on our carrousel-type lathes. These can handle parts of up to 6,000 mm in diameter.
  • We operate two highly flexible manufacturing lines for a wide range of performance and quality requirements. Large, circularly symmetric castings are machined on our carrousel-type lathes. These can handle parts of up to 6,000 mm in diameter. We also use our expertise in finish-machining our castings to perform machining services for large aluminum components that have to comply with particularly exacting tolerance requirements. Our largest machines are designed to handle components of up to 20 t in weight or 6,000 mm in diameter. We achieve accuracies down to 30 µm with our high-precision machining centers.

Our machining equipment

We rigorously align our machining equipment to the manufacturing of one-offs and small to medium-sized series of complex, high-quality components. Thanks to the availability of several, high-performance milling centers and our carrousel- and mandrel-type turning lathes, we are able to perform virtually every machining step in-house.

Our machining equipment includes

  • three Multitec five-axis gantry-type machining centers from Waldrich Coburg featuring air conditioning and workpiece clamping areas of approx. 2,000 mm by 3,000 mm, designed for machining components of up to 10 t weight
  • one DMU 125P universal machining center
  • two 6,000 mm carrousel-type lathes, one of which is fitted with an additionally driven milling head for ultra-precise machining
  • two carrousel-type lathes with faceplate diameters of 3,500 and 5,000 mm
  • one DUS820 center lathe from Böhringer with driven tool
  • one Power Turn 1250 center lathe from Wohlenberg

A further milling center – type DMC 340 U – is being installed in a new fully air-conditioned building. Fitted with specialist equipment, this new machining unit will operate with outstandingly high precision. The new facility is scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2022. The new workshop building is being constructed in accordance with the latest environmental and low-energy standards. Heat and power for the air-conditioning system are to be generated by heat pumps and photovoltaics.
